Pregnancy update

I'm a day over. 4th of July came and went and nada. nothing. No baby and that's what everyone is asking about whenever they call. It's frustrating me. One of my hubby's sis in law was like "why aint there no news from you yet. Isn't the reason you took your mom over? Where's the baby?" It's like shut up!!!

I really thought with all my walking and everything I would be ahead of schedule but it did not work that way. Waiting is the hard part because you never know when.

My belly itches so bad nowadays that I wake up in the middle of the night to scratch. Sometimes rubbing oil into the skin helps but not really.

I'm waiting!!

The docs said if I do not deliver by the 11th, then they will induce and perform a C-section while I'm awake. How scary!

Pregnancy update

Today I went to the doctor. I am now 38 weeks and 5 days meaning I have exactly 9 days left til the big day, 4th of July. I've been walking a lot during this pregnancy and am now dilated 3 cm. I keep praying that I'll go to the doc and they will be like its time. No such luck though I'm so close. Gotta go!

Pregnancy Update

Today and yesterday I had two appointments. Yesterday's was the ultrasound to make sure the baby is growing properly. Inshallah I am praying I will not need a C-section. Today's appointment was rather fast and I was done by 9:30 but did not go home from my appointment until 12. Why, you maybe thinking. My hubby has had some overtime at his work, so he gets home 2:30-3:30 these last few days. He took a pillow and blanket with him on my appointment days these past two days. He fell asleep in the car. I kept calling and calling and leaving messages. It was insane. I was going to go looking for him on all 6 floors of the parking structure when he suddenly appears. But the best part is? That was not even the longest I ever waited for a ride.

Leftover!

I forgot to mention this. Last night I went to my mom's house. I called my hubby several times because of I had an aching back. Those are one of the signs of labor, especially if it spreads to the front of your belly. Its like whenever I need this guy, I can never reach him by phone. Its frustrating because what if I really do go into labor one day and he's not there. Then I try my brother and he does not pick up and finally as a last resort I try my dad. No one picks up and I have to call 911. Time wasted because everyone keeps their phones on silent. Frustrating for a pregnant woman! Especially since the beginning of the pregnancy the wacko docs mentioned a preterm delivery. Paranoid Pregnant Woman on the Loose! My hubby turned off his phone because he was in the masjid (Muslim house of worship) the entire time.

Be careful for what you wish for. It might just come true.

Today I had a doctor's appointment and alhamdulillah everything looked good. I'm gaining weight and baby is developing well. I have an ultrasound in a couple of weeks and I will find out the weight of the baby then. I had the doctor who kept humming OK, OK to herself. We actually had a conversation this time around. She has 3 kids right now around my kids ages: 4, 2 and I forget the 3rd ones age, but I think around a year or under. She was telling to me consider IUD after this baby and to give myself and my body a well deserved break. When she put it like that I was nearly jumping to do it.

My son woke up a few minutes ago from his second nap today. He woke up early and had an early nap and was pooped out by 6pm. Woke up at 7:30 pm and started crying for his daddy. Tears streaming down his face and has not eaten in 4 hours plus dad's not around. Too much for his little heart and body to handle. So the best thing is to distract him by taking him outside with gray clouds and wind blowing and kind of freezing weather for a normal person but a pregnant girl who wants to sleep with the window open on 50 degree nights. I brought him back inside after about 10 minutes and showed him a box of thread I got for Harold. They are super miniature and the cost was 20 bucks. The picture was not shown to scale. I am not too pleased!

My mil visa expires in a couple of months but she is unsure whether to come or not. There are too many details to say and I can not go into until its resolved. to be continued....

Pregnancy Update

Have you even been to the doctor and seen the doctor, who rather make notes on her own about your health and well being without even talking to you? That has happened to me TWICE and today my hubby was mocking the poor girl. She talks and says "OK" every other time and when she is done jotting all her notes, she breaks down the information for me. Its like ask me or make your notes before you come into the room. She basically said that if my next baby is big, say over 8 pounds or so, then I will need a-section. If I do not opt for the C-section, I could get a tear. If I get a tear I'm at risk for incontinence. At first I was like I'm going to be incompetent. I was thinking, really? Now I'm super depressed because I do not want another C-section. Its painful, not to mention it takes longer to recover and I need help with everything. The baby weight takes forever to come off. The list goes on.

Another reason I'm bummed out today is my neighbors in the blue house next to me want to sell their house. I actually like them though we never talk, just the occasional wave. Their son is super funny and I talked to him a couple times and the wife waves. The elder gentleman is sulky but he does not bother anyone. Then the pink house on the block, the people have posted up a "For Rent" sign.

We need a bigger house and I'm not freaking out about that yet, though we are searching like EVERYWHERE.

No more stress for me. I do not need it. My friend who lost one of her twins, which is still inside of her, depresses me sometimes. She says that she does not feel the baby move. She thought like that the last time and one of them did actually die. She needs to stop this negative thinking and I tell her but she will not listen. I do not know what else to say to get through to her that her negativity will affect her unborn child. Want a happy baby? Have happy thoughts.

Pregnancy Update

My hubby put up the fence in front of our house so I can go outside with the kids and not worry about my son running straight into the streets. He will go as far as it is physically possible. You have to drag him back into the yard. He does not comprehend the words "Stop!" or "NO!". He loves to USE those words. His current favorites are "stop", "go", "no", and "more".

So on Saturday with my little sister, we were walking on the sidewalk in front of my house. I normally do not walk outside with my son because he runs away. I even sat on the porch for more than a few minutes and enjoyed it while my lil sister is chasing my son. It was fun and funny. I was laughing til my side hurts. That night my left foot got swollen and hurt whenever I walked. I do not know how that happened. Maybe I did too much.

The next thing I noticed on Saturday night was the baby moving less. The doctors and nurses advise if you notice sudden swelling to go into the ER and get it checked out. I wanted to wait it out and see what happens with me and the baby. On Sunday it was less movement too but I told my hubby later in the afternoon. We were suppose to go in the evening but that did not plan out. We went to my mom's and was there til nearly midnight.

Monday morning comes. I ask my hubby Sunday night when will he take me. He said after an appointment on Monday, we will go. I still did not call LRC (Labor Reception Center) at my delivery hospital because of what they will say. I am terrified of going in to be checked out. The one time I went in to get checked for fetal movement was with my daughter. She was delivered by emergency C-section and my poor guy had no idea what was happening until the docs announced and showed him his daughter.

Finally after dropping off my son at my mom's we go to LRC. I check in at 5:25 and see the doc at 6:30 to which she says the baby is now having a bit of a "quiet time". Allah shukr (thank Allah) that I did not need another C-section and my baby is alive and well.

Just a few more weeks to go and I feel like I'm losing control along with my mind....

pregnancy update

Today I had another prenatal appointment. Yesterday was just the ultrasound and today was the follow up, regular appointments. I have one every 2 weeks now that I'm getting closer and closer to the due date. Today, the doctor that seen me, kept saying "ok" to herself as she was writing down notes. The weird thing was that she was asking me nothing but saying "ok" to herself. Finally after ten minutes, she checked for the baby's heartbeat which sounded strong (alhamdulillah). She said I could wait for half and hour for another ultrasound but I opted no.

Just another Ordinary Day

Today was quite an eventful day for me. I woke up as usual and stayed up after Fajr (morning prayer) with my kids. They are very weird. They don't let me sleep in until like 10 am or something since forever. So at my appointment they did all these tests and the ultrasound. I got more pics and one is even of the baby's spine in 3-D color. It's pretty cool. The ultrasound lady said I could see the face but I just could not make it out. One of the nurses drew like a gazillion vials of blood (actually it was like 8-10) and my arm was getting numb from the band. She took a couple extra to send to the lab to check for cystic fibrosis. Then the doctor comes in and starts talking about getting an amniocentesis done too because my child could have Down''s syndrome and the only way to make sure is through the amnio. Of course I declined! I am not putting my child at risk of losing him after all this that I have been going through. To terminate someone just because they are sick or impaired is just wrong. Who knows what that person can contribute to society if you just kill it. KILL IT! Such powerful words when talking about a life. That is growing inside of you. I'm so against abortion that I will never terminate a fetus. It has life after 40 days. This is another topic that I will discuss much later when I am more comfortable.

As usual I'm optimistic that everything is great and the baby is healthy and praying to Allah to have a healthy, beautiful, full term baby. Another surprise today is that my due date was off by 10 days. 10 whole days. Someone calculated it wrong on the wheelie. Then I was pondering over the fact that if I have on 4th of July, I will deliver an American baby but then again all my kids are American being born in America, duh! Pregnancy makes your brain very dull.

My daughter is super cute. She called while I was in the doctor's office and was talking to me.
Sumy: Mom, where are you?
Me: at the doctor's
Sumy: Who's' that talking?
Me: This lady near me.
Me: The doctor took some blood from me.
Sumy: I want to see.
Me: You will when I get home.

So when I got home, she said "I want to see where they took your blood." So after I showed her, she says "don't go to the doctor any more."

Her best line of all is "OK, ok you can stop crying now."
